START OFF LEARNING FAST!
I think when filming this course, I may have underplayed the likelihood of injury. If you go really slow, wear a helmet, and don’t push yourself too hard, you’ll be fine. But skateboarding can be dangerous. These falls exist to protect you, and I always forget that people probably don’t do many hobbies that require the full force of their bodies to hit the ground. I would say, practice falling without your skateboard at first, get some pushups down! You don’t want to stumble and just body slam the ground, you want to roll, you want to learn which parts of your body can absorb the most damage. Ideally, this will come natural, you also don’t want to overthink a fall, and contort your body in a terrible way. Skateboarding is not a traditional sport, it is meant to be dangerous, but that’s part of the joy. Avoid feeling too far out of your comfort zone if you want to avoid injury, the more you practice the basics, the more likely you’ll be safe.
